Heartland Credit Union is pleased to announce the promotion of Darren Werth to AVP of Community and Government Affairs. In this new role, Darren will oversee efforts to strengthen the credit union’s connection to the communities it serves through advocacy, outreach, and relationship building.
His work will include advocating for policies that support members and the broader credit union movement, representing Heartland at public and legislative events, and guiding outreach efforts that reflect and reinforce Heartland’s Truths. Through this work, Darren will continue building meaningful connections and driving initiatives that create lasting, positive impact in the communities we serve.

Darren has been part of the Heartland team for 12 years, most recently serving as Assistant Vice President of Marketing. Prior to joining the credit union, he spent more than a decade in journalism, bringing with him a strong background in communication and public engagement. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Journalism and Mass Communications with an emphasis in marketing from Kansas State University.
Actively involved in the community and credit union advocacy efforts, Darren currently serves on several key committees, including the Southwest Bricktown Committee, the Kansas Government Affairs Committee, the Kansas Credit Union Association, and the Cornerstone Government Affairs Committee.
